At Blindness Support Services we train people who are blind with specialized equipment and computer programs. We take in various kinds of blind individuals with a wide variety of needs. Whereas some are in need of mobility training, others need independent living skills training. We also have two adjustment to blindness peer support groups that facilitate people who have lost their sight and are in need of group counseling.
There are a lot of different classes and services here at Blindness Support. Our goal is to help people who are blind achieve a higher level of independence, so they can function by themselves in society.
We are always in need of updated software for our computer lab. The specialized programs and software that make the computer accessible to those who are blind are very expensive. We must stay up-to-date to adequately help our blind patrons who use computers. This is what we need to get along in Today's ever changing environment of technology.
Donations will be utilized to purchase software/hardware to continue providing services to the blind/ visually impaired.
Braille is an essential skill that a person that is blind can benefit from. Braille note takers and refreshable braille displays will empower blind/ visually impaired individuals for daily living, home, school and work environments.
Together we can better serve the Blind community.
