INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS PROGRAM
The Independent Living Skills Program at BSS offers
individuals blind and visually impaired the specialized training for
personal and home management such as: household cleaning, meal preparation,
identifying clothing, shopping, money identification, organizing a budget,
paying bills and using modern communications systems including Braille and
keyboarding. Tasks include the many ordinary things that sighted persons
take for granted.
Two Independent Living Skills Instructors work with program
participants to establish course objectives for instruction with the goal
to have the consumer function independently in their own home or apartment
environment.
